I am glad to address the national and international metrology community in order to invite you to participate in the 2018 Metrology Symposium, which traditionally is organized every two years by the Mexican National Metrology Institute. For said year, the Symposium will be held from October 8th to 12th. The venue of such event will be Hotel Hacienda Jurica, in the city of Santiago de Querétaro, one of the cities with the greatest perspective of growth around Latin America. The main topics to address in such event will be the following: Primary Metrology, Metrology for Technological Innovation, and Metrology for Sustainable Development. The main premise will be to exchange expertise among the members of the metrology community.

The year 2018 has a great meaning for metrology around the world, since the projects regarding the redefinition of the International System (SI) will be about to conclude. Such an endeavor has called for the implementation of men and women’s ingenuity to develop measurement systems having a constant transcendence in time and capable of going beyond borders.

Prior to the Symposium dates, there will be courses related to the metrological aspects, and the event will have the participation of well-known and prestigious national and international lecturers who are experts in the above mentioned topics. In addition, there will be simultaneous conferences, an exhibition of posters, and various cultural and social activities organized for the purpose of the event. In the industrial presentation, the manufacturers of measurement instruments will present the state-of-the-art technology regarding metrology. All the aforesaid will be with the sole purpose that the participants of such an event feel comfortable and surrounded by an environment favorable for the enrichment of ideas regarding all the aspects of metrology and its applications. In this regard, all contributions allowing the success of such an event will be welcome.

We, therefore, invite you to be a part of the 2018 Metrology Symposium: “Boosting Technological Innovation and Sustainable Development”.

Kind regards,

Froylán Martínez Suárez
General Coordinator for the 2018 Metrology Symposium
